Few experiences are as deeply relaxing as spending a few hours, or even a full day, at the spa. Here in Vermont, there are endless experiences to soothe one’s soul with, the magnificent mountains, locally sourced food, cleverly crafted beer. Pair all of that with a day at the spa, and you’ve got a recipe for an immensely nourishing getaway.
The Essex Spa – A Recipe for Relaxation
Having a spa experience in Vermont is about to become even more wonderful, since The Essex, Vermont’s Culinary Resort & Spa, is in the process of renovating their spa. We took a few moments to chat with Lana Lebrecque to find out more details about what we can expect to soon experience at the spa.
Lana, when will the renovation be complete?
“The main phases will be completed early to mid-December.”
Was there a specific reason for the renovation?
“We wanted to give more of a ‘cozy, warming feel.’ The facilities were feeling dated and really just needed to be updated.”
Is there a theme concept behind the renovation? Give us an idea of what it is!
“We are hoping to create a warm and cozy feel. Rich colors, luxurious and plush furniture. Most of the furniture will come from Vermont, as well as our new light fixtures and chandelier. We will have braided rugs which speak to traditional Vermont décor while still staying a touch modern.”
What types of art and furniture will you be using? How did you choose?
“Our end tables, sideboards, and coffee tables are from Maple Corner Woodworks, our light fixtures and chandelier will come from Hubbardton Forge. Our goal is to really have a natural, organic outside feel. We will be using a local artist for the artwork, which we are still narrowing down to our favorite.”
What new features will the spa have?
“We have recently added a pedicure room, and additional treatment room as well as spray tan (which is all green, with no harmful chemicals). We are looking into adding a build your own tea bar in our coed relaxation areas.”
What is the desired impact of the new spa?
“To really create a more luxurious, cozy feeling for our guests. With The Spa at The Essex being the only resort spa in Chittenden County, it is important that our facilities, treatments and customer service meet the expectations of our guests. We want to be able to provide a true resort spa feel.”
Thank you, Lana, for giving us these details about the upcoming renovation! We can’t wait to pop in for a few treatments this December. We will be sure to follow up with you once it’s been completed to get more details on how the final product turns out, and to see what new treatments will be offered!
